ABOUT ME

My name is Luis. I am a Spanish vet that likes exotic animals. I graduated in 2014 in Santiago de Compostela University. I developed an interest in exotic animals during my degree. Since then I have been improving my skills and knowledge in the matter.

Between 2015 and 2016, I went through a rotating internship in Barcelona, incluiding exotic animals with Dr. Jaume Martorell (Dipl. ECZM (small mammals)).

After that, I was working in a small exotic animal practice in the same city until I moved to the United Kingdom in 2018.

In 2021 I finally achieved the certifications I was working on since I arrived in the UK.

GPcert (ExAP) by ISVPS and the PgC (ExAP) by Harper Adams University.

I am a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in UK as well.

In this blog I will write about things that I consider useful for any exotic animal owner and maybe other vets that would like to know more about exotic pets. There are tons of information out there that sometimes is difficult to know where it comes from. Here you will have information that you can trust.

In the exotic animal daily practice, a high percentage of the problems that the animals come with are secondary to incorrect husbandry or diet. So my goal here is to reduce as much as possible unnecessary suffering to these animals, helping their owners and potential vets to understand them better.
